Tattoo Removal Or Cover-Up - Alternatives To Removing Tattoo

Over the years, the number of people who have tattoos but later regretted it has been rising. As such the demand for the service of tattoo removal has been increasing. There are various reasons for this, ranging from being a gang member once but later decided to disassociate from it, to changing a life partner.

In the past, there were various techniques for the removal of a tattoo. But, tattoo removals have become really effective only after the introduction of laser surgery. However, the procedure does not yield instant results and it is rather expensive. Even today, there is no guarantee on the results too. So it is good to have a knowledge of other practical alternatives.

Firstly, you must be certain that you want your tattoo removed. It is ironic, but usually people are more certain they want the tattoo removed than they want it in the first place. This is due to the fact that the tattoo is a symbol of an attachment to something which is now no longer important to the person's life. Typically, this is either a partner or a gang. Previously, the person expected the relationship to continue for a lifetime, but things seem to have changed now.

Once you have decided and you are absolutely sure that you want the tattoo removed, the next step is to choose the method you want to use. Dermabrasion is an outdated method which has been forgotten as this method caused too severe a damage to the skin. Nowadays, people choose between laser surgery and the readily available removal creams. If you are looking for a high success rate, then you should consider laser surgery as the creams are rather controversial.

Certainly, a tattoo removal cream will not be able to completely remove the tattoo. At best, it simply lighten it and make it appears more faint. If your intention is to just cover up the tattoo instead of total removal, this can be a useful method. Your tattoo may become difficult to see if you have worked on it long enough. However, in the long run, this method can be quite expensive as the creams do not come cheap. It will get to a point where it is better to pay for the laser treatment that offers a higher probability of completely removing it.

The main alternative to the removal of a tattoo is to cover it up with another. If you are not really against having a tattoo on the particular part of your body, but just that you are desperately wanting to get rid of the one that you are currently having, then this option may be best for you. However, there are limits to what can be achieved with this technique. You cannot cover over a dark tattoo with an extremely light colored one. But, if the main objective is to change an offending tattoo to one that is not offensive, than it would not be a problem. Unlike tattoo removal, you will see instant results.
